A Summer Round Up
I haven't done a monthly round up in a while, so here are a few things I've been enjoying lately....
Reading...
New Philosopher - A quarterly (ad free) magazine which explores philosophical ideas from past and present thinkers on ways to live a more fulfilling life. Packed with thought provoking essays, each issue focuses on a specific subject such as Human Connections, Choice and Novelty. Highly recommended. Subscriptions available here.
Visiting...
Charleston House, Firle, Sussex - Guaranteed to inspire and uplift. The house is beautiful (you must book tickets in advance), the garden (free) is stunning and there are often events running too. Great cafe, lovely shop and the nearby village of Firle has a fab pub, The Ram Inn.
Watching...
The Ballad of Wallis Island - this film is charming, endearing, funny, eccentric, melancholy and hopeful. It'll make you laugh and warm your heart. Catch it if you can.
Listening to...
Fashion Neurosis - this podcast by Bella Freud explores the connection between fashion and identity. Each episode has a different guest - often from the world of fashion, music or art - who talks about the way in which clothing choices have shaped their inner lives.
Immersing myself in...
The Cotswold Lavender Fields - we stumbled across this place on a recent weekend in Cheltenham and it's divine. As the name suggests, it’s simply fields of lavender, which look and smell gorgeous. Pop in if you're passing.
And always, of course, there's always yoga….check out the Library for some great catch ups!
