I had a ‘broken window day’ yesterday.
I can't actually remember where I first came across the term, but it relates to the ‘broken windows theory’. The belief is that if minor examples of disorder or petty crime (like broken windows, graffiti, dodging through the ticket barrier without paying) are tolerated, then people are more likely to commit more serious crimes.
Whether or not it's true on a community level, it's certainly true on a personal level.
